Correction of sentences and words wrongly used
Rule (1)
♦ कुछ Nouns ऐसी होती है, जो हमेशा Singular numberमें use की जाती है और इनके साथ verb भी Singular use होती है।
eg. Scenery, Poetry, Hair, Furniture, Machinery, Bread, Work, Steel, News, Issue (बच्चे) etc.
Examples:
• She has no issues. (बच्चे) (Incorrect)
• She has no issue. (Correct)
Rule (2)
♦ संख्यावाची शब्द जैसे Hundred, Thousand, Dozen यदि किसी संख्या के बाद आए, तो Singular number का use किया जाता है।
Examples:
• There were five hundreds pencils. (Incorrect)
• Here were five hundred pencils. (Correct)
Rule (3)
♦ भिन्न-भिन्न persons के pronouns यदि एक साथ use करने हो, तो उनका क्रम इस प्रकार होता है।
♦ Singular: You + He + I = (2+3+1)
♦ Plural: We + You + They = (1+2+3)
Examples:
• I, you and he will go on a picnic. (Incorrect)
• You, he and I will go on a picnic. (Correct)
Rule (4)
♦ Do/Does/Did + not के बाद Verb हमेशा first form में ही use की जाती है।
Examples:
• He does not went. (Incorrect)
• He does not go. (Correct)
Rule (5)
♦ Has/Have/Had के बाद verb हमेशा third form में ही use की जाती है।
Examples:
• He has went/go back. (Incorrect)
• He has gone back. (Correct)
Rule (6)
♦ Adverbs of Manner: quickly, slowly, clearly, foolishly etc. always verb के बाद में use किए जाते है।
Examples:
• He very quickly writes. (Incorrect)
• He writes very quickly. (Correct)
Rule (7)
♦ Adverbs of Time/Place: early, after, ago, today, tomorrow, yesterday/ here, there, where, far, near, away, etc. always verb के बाद में use किए जाते है।
Examples:
• I yesterday came here. (Incorrect)
• I came here yesterday. (Correct)
Rule (8)
♦ 'Between' दो के लिए तथा 'among' दो से अधिक के लिए use होता है।
Examples:
• The property will be equally divided among the two brothers. (Incorrect)
• The property will be equally divided between the two brothers. (Correct)
Rule (9)
♦ Hard, Hardly: Hard का अर्थ, 'कठिन मेहनत' किन्तु 'Hardly' का अर्थ है 'बहुत ही थोडा सा'।
Examples:
• He labours very hardly. (Incorrect)
• He labours very hard. (Correct)
Rule (10)
♦ Late, Lately: Late का अर्थ है 'देर से', किन्तु 'lately' का अर्थ है “हाल ही में”।
Examples:
• Late I have not seen him.
• Lately I have not seen him.

(1) Her and the other members (A)/ of the group spoke to the (B)/ person after their final victory. (C)/ No error (D)
Solution:
(A) Use 'She' in place of 'Her'.
• Her एक Pronoun Object है, जो कि subject की तरह use नहीं हो सकता है।
(2) In early India there has been (A)/ very little to read except for the (B)/ books sent from Britain. (C)/ No error (D)
Solution:
(A) Use 'was' in place of 'has been'.
• जब वाक्य में Past Tense (In early India) के बारे में चर्चा है, तो Present Perfect Tense के स्थान पर Past Tense का use किया जायेगा।
(3) Still remaining in the ancient castle (A)/ are the Duke's collection of early Dutch paintings (B)/ which will be donated to a museum. (C)/ No error (D)
Solution:
(B) Use 'is' in place of 'are'.
• Subject, Duke's collection of early Dutch paintings है, जो Collective noun के साथ singular है।
(4) Most students preferred courses (A)/ in the classical arts to courses (B)/ in science unless they are science majors. (C)/ No error (D)
Solution:
(A) 'prefer' will be used instead of 'preferred'.
• Sentence is in the Present Tense.
(5) When she comes (A)/ to see us she (B)/ usually will bring something with her. (C)/ No error (D)
Solution:
(C) 'brings' will be used instead of 'will bring'.
• Subordinate clause का Tense, Principal clause के Tense के according use किया जायेगा।
(6) Why did you (A)/ not told me that (B)/ the meeting was postponed? (C)/ No error (D)
Solution:
(B) 'tell' is used in place of 'told'.
• Past Interrogative में जब did का use होता है, तो verb की 1st form use की जाती है।
• Affirmative: Sub. + V2 + Obj.
• Negative: Sub. + did + not + V1 + Obj.
• Interrogative: Did + Sub. + V1 + Obj.?
(7) I did not want (A)/ him to have spent all (B)/ the money at the fair yesterday. (C)/ No error (D)
Solution:
(B) It is enough to write 'to spend' instead of 'to have spent'.
(8) The assistant is (A)/ never found wherever (B)/ the manager want him. (C)/ No error (D)
Solution:
(C) Use 'wants' in place of 'want'.
• Manager, Singular 3rd person है, so V1 के साथ s/es का use होगा।
(9) He picked up (A)/ the books and (B)/ put it on the table. (C)/ No error (D)
Solution:
(C) Use 'put them' in place of ‘put it’.
• यहाँ them का use books के लिए है, जो Plural है।
(10) They decided (A)/ to talk it over (B)/ at dinner. (C)/ No error (D)
Solution:
(D) The given sentence is the grammatically correct.
